Police said on Tuesday that a student from Jammu and Kashmir was beaten by a group of local residents at a pharmacy college in Nagpur.
A motive was not yet clear, he said.
The incident occurred in the campi area of ​​Maharashtra city on Sunday evening, but no complaint has been made to the victim so far.
Explaining the sequence of events, he said that two first -year Bachelor of Pharmacy students, meeting Doda Town and Jammu, were returning to their hostels, when one of them went to respond to nature’s call, while the other was standing waiting on the side of the road.
At the same time, a group of local residents came to the spot and started questioning the student standing on the roadside and demanded to find out where he came from. When he was unable to answer his questions, the residents started throwing him, the official said.
The second student returned and informed the residents that both were a local college student. Subsequently, the locals allowed him to leave, he said.
One of the students later informed the office-office-office Nasir Khumi, the office-office of the J&K Students Association, who posted about it on his X account and urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to intervene in the matter.

Talking to PTI, the student rejected the objective of a hatred behind the attack and said that it was their first year in Nagpur and they did not know the area where the incident happened, well.
The student said that the incident took place at around 6.15 pm when they stayed on a road in the competition. Two to three people came to the spot and asked them who they were and where they were from.
The student said that he told him that he had come from Jammu and Kashmir, but “anti -social elements” started beating him.
Meanwhile, in a post on the social media site X, the national convenor of J&K Students Association Militer said that a student of Jammu and Kashmir was brutally attacked in Nagpur.
He said, “The student of J&K Doda region was thrown out of cruelty without any rhyme.”
Khoomi said that according to the victim, two to three goons attacked him.
The student leader wrote, “Some attackers dropped him down and punched him on his face and stomach, and hit him on his knees. He was slapped 8-9 times on his face, neck, back and arms.”
Khoomi requested Chief Minister Fadnavis, who handles the portfolio of the house, to intervene in the matter and take strict action against the culprit.
Khumi said that he brought about the notice of Maharashtra CMO about the incident of compatibility, he received a call from IGP (Law and Order) Manoj Kumar Sharma, who took details of the incident from him and also the victim’s phone number.
He said that the IGP assured him that strict legal action would be taken against the culprits.
