John Abraham lends to muscles for Hyderabad tree-flying protests

Actor John Abraham has urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanta Reddy to “scrap the scheme”, throwing his weight behind protest against alleged cutting of trees on 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibovli near Hyderabad Central University.

The jungle, the actor said, serves as a green lung for the city and cleaning it will leave the wildlife without home.

“Honorable CM @revanth_anumula Garu, request you to scrap the plan to clean 400 acres of trees/forest in Kancha Gachibovali, who act as a green lung for the city as well as leave it for decades as well as a house as well as a house as well as a wild life.

On Friday, the Supreme Court mentioned that an interim report submitted by the Telangana High Court had painted the “dangerous picture” of the deforestation and indicated that a large number of trees fell in Kancha Ganchiboli.

A bench of Justice Bra Gavai and AG Masih asked Telangana Chief Secretary whether an environmental impact assessment certificate was obtained before completing developmental activities and cleaning trees in the area. The bench also asked what is “hypnotic urgency” for such activities.

The Supreme Court ordered the Telangana government not to allow any activity on the land.

The order by the Telangana High Court, and against the alleged failing of trees using protests by students from the Telangana High Court, and the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation by the students of Hyderabad Central University. Students and Vat Foundation filed a public interest litigation in the High Court against tree flying, arguing that land is home to many species of animals and birds and should be declared a ‘national park’.

The Telangana government has clarified that it has not taken even an inch of an inch belonging to Hyderabad Central University and said that the biodiversity of the campus will be protected.

It has been said that land will be used to establish information technology (IT) companies to provide employment.
