A religious pilgrimage by Hindus for Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake in the Tibetan Autonomous region of China, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, will resume through Nathu La Pass in Sikkim.
This development comes in the form of Sikkim, which is a 50 -year state. Sources first told NDTV that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to celebrate the state’s day celebrations.
The pilgrimage, which is ready to resume after a gap of five years, is organized from June to September through two separate routes by the Ministry of External Affairs – Lipuleke Pass in Uttarakhand and Nathu La in Sikkim. The journey is performed by hundreds of people, and has religious significance for Hindus as well as Jains and Buddhists.
A total of 10 batches are likely to travel through Nathu La Pass spread over 21 days for each batch. Estimated expenditure for each person. 2.83 lakhs. The first batch of pilgrims will depart from Delhi on 15 June and cross through Nathu La Border on 20 June. The final batch will depart from Delhi on August 7 and will pass through the border on August 12.
The Sikkim government has intensified the development of infrastructure for pilgrimage. Nathu La Pass is about 60 km from the state capital Gangtok, and is located under the Kabi-Lungchok constituency of Bhutia.
Officials said two acclimatization centers are coming between Gangtok and Nathu La for the convenience of travel to YT, while toilets, rest of the house and other travel-related infrastructure are also being developed, the officials said.
COCLIMATization features are required due to cold cold and thin air that people may suffer from height disease caused by low air pressure and low oxygen levels at high altitude.
The pilgrimage is open to Indian citizens, which holds a legitimate Indian passport. The government does not provide any subsidy or financial assistance to those traveling.
Yatra was initially suspended due to Covid -19 in 2020 and later due to military deadlock between the two sides on the line of real control (LAC) in East Ladakh.
