Karnataka driver stopped the bus to offer Namaz, ordered an inquiry after complaints

Bengaluru:

The driver of a state transport bus in Karnataka is in trouble after stopping the roadside bus to offer Namaz. An inquiry has been ordered after widely broadcast a video of her in prayer.

In the video, the man can be seen on a seat, prayer can be offered, bus standing on the shoulder of the road, while the traffic thunder. A handful of passengers in the bus can be seen helplessly. Some kept recording the situation on their cellphones.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening on the Hubli Havari road near Javi.

Sources said that some passengers have complained after the incident and the Karnataka State Transport Corporation has started an investigation. The department said that action will be taken after investigation.

State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy was rigid. In a letter written to the manager of North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation, he wrote, “Employees working in a public service have to follow certain rules and regulations”.

“Even if everyone has the right to practice any religion, they can do this apart from the time of the office. It is objectionable to perform prayers by stopping the bus midway to the passengers traveling in the bus.”

The minister said, “It is directed to conduct immediate check in the said viral video and if the employees are found guilty then action should be taken to prevent such incidents in future,” the minister said.
