Bengaluru/ New Delhi:

The wife is taken as a prominent suspect in the murder of former Karnataka police chief, Om Prakash, who was found dead in her Bengaluru house yesterday, with several knives in her stomach and chest.

The former police chief’s wife Pallavi, daughter Kriti and another family member were at home when she was murdered. Police have detained all three and questioned themSources told NDTV that the police received a call from another person, which informed them about the body.

Om Prakash and his wife allegedly fought on money and property after transferring one of their assets to their relatives. It has been alleged that last evening, the couple fought a fight on the issue, and he allegedly dominated her and stabbed her several times.

Chili powder, 2 knife and a glass bottle

The wife and daughter were questioned by the police for more than 12 hours. Sources said whether the police was involved in the murder or not.

During interrogation, the police found that there was a fight between the couple between 3:30 pm, and when the oral argument was physically changed, the wife allegedly threw chilli powder at the former-top policeman and then tied it.

Om Prakash was stabbed with two knives, and a glass bottle was also used to attack him. The wife allegedly talked to another retired police wife and told her that she had murdered her husband. Her friend informed her husband, who later informed the police.

Former top police used to live on the ground floor of their three -storey house in HSR layout in Bangalore. When the incident took place, the east-copy daughter was on the second floor.

The police have registered a case filed by the police son, who in his complaint alleged that his father was receiving death threats for the last week, and his sister and mother, who were suffering from depression, fought with his father every day.

Bengaluru Additional Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar said that it seems that a sharp weapon was used to attack the retired police officer.

“Around 4 pm, we came to know about the death of our former DGP and IGP Om Prakash. His son has been contacted and he is complaining against the incident, and based on it, an FIR will be registered,” Mr. Kumar told reporters.

“After the case is registered, a detailed investigation will be done … immediately, no arrest. Initial investigation suggests that things may be internal … It seems that some sharp weapons have been used, which caused so much blood loss that caused it to death,” he said.

Om Prakash was an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1981 batch. He was appointed Director General of Police in March 2015. Earlier, he also led fire and emergency services and home guards.
