An official said on Saturday that the Manipur government has asked all the district administration of the state to check the papers of arms license holders and arms dealers.
The Commissioner (Ghar) has asked the deputy commissioners of all the districts to take steps to verify the documents of arms license holders and arms dealers in their respective districts.
The official said, “Non-transportation with the order may cancel fine and arms license,” said, referring to the circular of Commissioner (Ghar).
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police has issued a separate order to direct all arms license holders and arms dealers in Kangpokpi district, which is to submit self-set copies of their license along with a perfect set format to its nearest local police station by 25 April for verification.
Local authorities have also been urged to ensure that gun license holders in their respective villages are informed about the verification process and complied accordingly.
