Imphal/Churarachandpur:
Sources said the delegation of Metei and Cookie communities left for Delhi separately to participate in the peace talks scheduled on Saturday.
The meeting is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs to mediate between the two communities in the state, where 250 people were killed and thousands of people were homeless after the violence started in May 2023.
The Meitei team consists of three members of the All Manipur United Clubs Organization (AMUCO) and the Federation of Civil Society Organization, an executive of the focus.
On the other hand, Representatives of the ZOMI Council along with the people of Hmar INPI and Kuki ZO Council also left for Delhi to attend the meeting, sources from the cookie groups said.
The Emuko delegation consists of its chairman Nanda Luvang, as well as senior advisors Eto Tongram and Dhanbir Lishram.
Another FOCS team, which is actively advocating for the interests of the Meitei community, has also confirmed its participation in the talks.
Two days ago, the cookie leadership located in Kangpokpi district of Manipur prescribed three pre-east-ranks, including no inter-district movement between Metei and Kukis in areas where the second community is in majority.
It is not immediately known whether the conditions were fulfilled.
Several efforts have been made from the Central Government to bring warning communities to the conversation table. The Center implemented the President’s rule in the state on 13 February, when Ann Biran Singh resigned as the Chief Minister.
