Rainfall is expected to be normal in North India, which is more than 109 percent at a long -term average of 64.1 mm.

He said that the possibility of thundering of continuous and intense thunderstorms in May would prevent the temperature from rising to the levels seen in May 2024.

The country recorded 72 heatwave days in April, IMD DG said.

The above normal heatwave days were told in Rajasthan and Gujarat (6 to 11 days), and Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha (4 to 6 days) compared to two to three days.
