The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) said that the South -Western monsoon reached Kerala on Saturday, starting on the Indian mainland since 2009, started on 23 May. Generally, the South -West monsoon makes its debut on Kerala by 1 June and covers the entire country by 8 July. It begins to withdraw from Northwest India around 17 September and withdraw completely by 15 October.
The monsoon was set to the southern state on 30 May last year; 8 June in 2023; 29 May in 2022; 3 June in 2021; 1 June in 2020; 8 June in 2019; And on 29 May in 2018, IMD data was shown.
According to meteorologists, there is no direct connection between the starting date and the total rainfall in the country during the season.
A quick or late monsoon in Kerala does not mean that it will cover other parts of the country accordingly. An official stated that massive variability and global, regional and local characteristics are characterized.
