Official sources said that most of the reports reported in various states are mild in nature and patients are called under home care, amidst the increase in cases in some countries.
Regarding the Covid-19 cases, the matter was reviewed by the Union Health Secretary on Saturday with Secretary, Health Research Department (DHR) and Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), DGHS and National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) etc.
Some Kovid -19 cases have been informed mainly from states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, etc., which is a strong PAN India system for monitoring respiratory diseases including the Integrated Disease Survey Program (IDSP) and ICMR’s Pan India Respiratory virus.
An official source said, “It has been observed that most of these cases are light and under home care.”
“It can also be mentioned that there have been some media reports about the increase in Kovid -19 cases in Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries in recent times. It has been detected from the concerned National IHR focal points that there is no indication that there is a more serious disease than the circulating variants. Many agencies are closely monitoring.
Meanwhile, according to INSACOG data, a case of the newly emerging Covid-19 version nb.1.8.1 and four cases of LF.7 have been found in India.
By May 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies LF.7 and NB.1.8 subversives as variants under monitoring (VUMS), not as VCS) or variant of interest (VOIS). But these are variants that allegedly increase the increase in Kovid cases in China and parts of Asia.
In India, the most common version remains JN.1, with 53 percent of samples tested, followed by BA.2 (26%) and other Omikron Sablinage (20%), according to Insacog.
As of May 19, there were 257 active cases in the country. Delhi registered 23 new cases, Andhra Pradesh reported four in the last 24 hours, Telangana confirmed one, and a nine -month -old child conducted a positive test in Bengaluru amid gradual growth in the last 20 days. Kerala reported 273 cases in May alone.

The Than Municipal Corporation (TMC) said that in Maharashtra, a Kovid -19 patient suffering from severe diabetes was reported to have died on Saturday about eight new cases of viral infection in the city.
Two people were detected with Koronwirus in Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. In Uttarakhand, a 57 -year -old tourist from Gujarat in Rishikesh and a female doctor from AIIMS Rishikesh has been infected with Kovid.
All 23 recent Covid-19 patients in Delhi experienced only mild symptoms and were subject to the quarantine of the house, the health officials in the Delhi government said.
A 55 -year -old woman was placed under the house quarantine after conducting positive tests for Kovid -19 in Noida on the outskirts of Delhi.
Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajnarasim called a high-level review meeting to assess the current Covid-19 scenario and health department preparations in the state.
Officials said on Friday that a Covid-19 case was reported in Hyderabad and the patient, a pulmonologist is completely cured.
