Motorola’s upcoming smartphones can allegedly come with Artificial Intelligence (AI) apps from Perplexity and Microsoft Out-The-Box. According to the report, a Google executive revealed information during a testimony, which was part of the ongoing antitrust trial in the US. Mountain view-based tech veteran is accused of illegally monopolizing the online search market, and is said to have spread the scope of the case to the company’s AI products, such as Gemini. In particular, the Lenovo -owned brand is hosting an event on 24 April, where the company is expected to launch the Motorola RAZR 60 series and Edge 60 Pro.
Motorola can offer several AI apps with upcoming RAZR 60 series
Bloomberg Reports Global partnership, platform and device, GOOGLE VP for Peter Fitzberd testified on Tuesday that Motorola’s upcoming equipment would also include AI apps of Perplexity and Microsoft. Allegedly, the executive also said that Samsung is interacting with several AI companies to add its apps to its equipment.
The executive gave a statement against Google, testifying in the no -confidence case of the US Department of Justice. In January 2023, an antittest case was filed on the allegations that the search engine veteran company was illegally monopolizing online search. A major part of the case was also included with Google’s financial deal with Apple to make its search engine a default option on the iPhone devices.
Currently, the Department of Justice has said that Judge Amit Mehta has asked to find a proposal to break the monopoly in the online search market. The scope of this case is said to expand its AI products, such as Gemini.
Google executive statements were reportedly designed to highlight that it does not prevent device makers from installing other Voice Assistant or Generic AI apps. The company allegedly shared letters with the court, clarifying, highlighting the lack of any such section in contracts with the manufacturers.
This means that the upcoming Motorola RAZR 60 series and Motorola Edge 60 Pro may potentially pre-installed with several AI apps. Last week, a report claimed that Perplexity agreed with Motorola to add its AI-operated virtual assistant to smartphone manufacturer tools. However, it is not clear whether the brand owned by Lenovo may make any of these apps a default AI assistant.
