Nia arrested 3 terrorists involved in 2 separate murders in Manipur

Officials said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two persons related to restricted terrorist groups in November last year in Ziribam district of Manipur for armed militants for cruel killing and burning of a woman.

NIA sources said the accused Nongthombum Meeraba, from Bishanupur district and the Adesh Rebel Organization – belonging to the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), was involved in the actual shooting of the woman, which was identified as Zosangkim.

The other accused, identified as Sagolsam SantaMa alias Sorchandra Singh alias Piba in Thubal district, was a member of the Kalley Yavana Yanana Nagana Lup (KYKL), another manipulation outfit and team in the team.

Both the accused are in custody NIA till 17 May, for which investigation is on.

In another incident, the NIA has arrested a cadre of the terrorist organization-the Conflict Group of the Communist Party of the Communist Party (KCP-PWG)-2023 in the case of a kidnapping and murder related to the ethnic clashes in Manipur in Manipur.

According to a source by the Central Investigation Agency, the KCP-PWG terrorist was identified as Vikhom Rohit Singh, a resident of Thubal Pakhangkhong Lirak in Thubal district, was raised by the NIA team for his participation in the conspiracy and crime reshuffle.

He is currently in judicial custody after completing his remand with the NIA. In November 2023, a Bolero vehicle was detained by a CRPF team posted on ‘Naka Duty’ in the Kangchap Chingkhong area of ​​Imphal West District. The vehicle takes five persons belonging to one of the two main communities involved in ethnic clashes in the northeastern state.

A large crowd of angry people belonging to the rival community had gathered around and forcibly snatched four persons, while one managed to escape.

The bodies of three out of four victims were later recovered. Nia, who handled the case on the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs in February 2024, continues with investigation.
