“Now there is no confidence in the legal system …”: RG car victim’s father

The father of RG Car Medical College and Hospital rape and murder victim on Tuesday expressed deep disappointment with the Central Investigation Bureau of Investigation Bureau (CBI), alleging discrepancies in agency reports.

Talking to ANI, he said, “The CBI has submitted two separate reports in the Calcutta High Court and the Sealdah district court … We will tell in the High Court today that two separate status reports are being submitted … Even the Supreme Court judges have not submitted them the seriousness of the report … We had faith in the CBI, but now we are all lost.”

He further claimed that the CBI is aware of the criminals behind the rape and murder of his daughter, but is stopping the details, eradicating his confidence in the agency.

“CBI knows the criminals behind the rape and murder of my daughter, but it is not disclosing the details …” he said.

He claimed concerns that his daughter’s phone could have unauthorized access. After a friend of his daughter, after indicating her suspicion arose that she had dropped out of her group of friends. He said that his phone has all relevant information.

He further said that he has lost confidence in the legal system.

“My daughter’s friends met me two days ago and showed that someone has accessed his phone to leave his common WhatsApp group. The CBI has a phone, but he refuses to do it … his mobile phone has all the answers … I have no confidence in anyone in the Indian legal system now …”, he said.

The RG car medical college rape and murder incident occurred on August 9, 2024, when a 31 -year -old woman was found to be dead in a seminar room at a postgraduate trainee doctor campus. There was widespread opposition and resentment across the country in this case, demanding justice for many victims.

The investigation of the incident was transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the Calcutta High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the case of handling the case. The CBI has since arrested several persons, including the main accused Sanjay Roy, who has been convicted of crime.

The apex court was hearing a Suu Motu case in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor, which was held in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Senior advocate Karuna Nandi represented the parents of the victims.
