New Delhi:
The Congress and Lalu Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, at the national level as well as in Bihar, has claimed the Center for the Center’s move to include caste data in the next census. Along with the assembly elections in the state, the Grand Alliance government was first to collect caste figures-the eleventh hour agreement of the center was depicted as a capitulation after a minute after a minute after Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for caste census in Delhi.
“We think socialists 30 years ago – such as reservation, caste census, equality, fraternity, secularism etc.. He said,” On demanding caste census, those who called us ‘casteists’ got answers. There is still a lot left. We will keep dancing to these associations on our agenda, “he said.
“This is a big victory for us. Prime Minister Narendra Modi opposed the caste census, but the Center is now working on our agenda,” said his son and senior party leader Tejashvi Yadav.
The Congress also claimed credit, saying that a caste survey is an important demand of the party. Vijay Wadatiwar of the Congress said, “We welcome the decision of the central government. This was a long pending demand of the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi raised his voice for the same.”
Other Indian partners soon joined. In a post on social media platform X, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav called it “100 percent win” for PDA – “Picre” (backward), Dalits and “Minority” (minority).
“Due to the collective pressure of all of us, the BJP government has been forced to take this decision. It is a very important phase of the PDA victory in the fight for social justice,” his post read.
Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress raised the demand for caste census – until then went back by parties like RJD and Samajwadi Party. But senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is vocal about it,
Even in February, Mr. Gandhi promised to census a nationwide caste census and increase the cap on reservation when the Congress came to power.
His platform was a program in Patna – the capital of Bihar where the demand for caste census has been at the forefront of the opposition campaign. This has claimed the BJP that the opposition is using caste as a political equipment.
Ashwini Vaishnav, after announcing the government’s move after the cabinet meeting, stated the matter again.
The minister said, “It is well understood that the Congress and its Indies Alliance Partners have used caste census as only a political tool,” the minister said that the previous UPA government did a caste survey instead of census despite receiving cabinet clearance in 2010.
