Kanpur:
Pahgam Terror Attack Victim Shubam Dwivedi’s wife Ashanya said, “He proudly identified himself as a Hindu and sacrificed his life and saved many lives.”
Ashanya told reporters on Saturday, “The first bullet hit my husband and the terrorists took time to ask if we were Hindus or Muslims … In such a situation, many people got time to run and save their lives.”
Shubam, a 31 -year -old businessman from Kanpur, married Ashanya on 12 February. He was among 26 people, most of whom were tourists, who were killed in Besaran Meado near Pahgam on 22 April.
He was cremated in his original village here on Thursday.
Ashanya said, “I do not want anything else from the government, except that Shubam should be given the status of ‘martyr’. If the government accepts my wish, I will have a reason to stay with me,” said Ashanya.
While she is still hurting her husband’s loss, the hope is also angry.
“Whoever shoots someone’s name and religion should be abolished,” he said.
Recalling the events of 22 April, Ashanya said that when the terrorists approached him and Shubam and asked him about his religion, he thought that the men were trying to prank the couple.
“As soon as he came, one of them asked if we were Hindus or Muslims? I felt that they (terrorists) were playing a mischief. I turned back, laughed and asked him what was going on. Then he repeated his question and as soon as I replied that we were Hindus, a bullet was fired and everything was for me.
He said that he also begged the terrorists to shoot him, but he refused, saying that he was giving him live so that he could go and tell the government what he did.
Shubam’s father Sanjay Dwivedi stopped the absence of security personnel in the area and claimed that the army personnel controlled the area after about an hour.
