Forest officials said on Sunday that a two -year -old woman leopard died after being hit by a fast heavy vehicle in the Mala range of Pilibit Tiger Reserve.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Bharat Kumar said that the incident took place late Saturday evening when Felin was crossing a road inside the forest.
Kumar said, “The effect was so serious that the leopard got stuck in the vehicle and dragged for about 200 meters,” Kumar said that the forest staff on duty stopped the vehicle, but the driver left it and left the scene.
Kumar said that forest personnel approached the injured leopard, a forest personnel were identified as unique.
Forest personnel suffered injuries and were rushed to the district hospital for immediate treatment.
According to officials, the leopard was in immense pain and violently reacted to the human appearance.
The forest team started the treatment processes when he reached the spot, but the leopard died due to injuries before providing any medical aid.
The body has been sent to the district headquarters for postmortem.
Efforts are being made to locate the driver of the vehicle and strict action will be initiated against him under the Wildlife Protection Act.
