New Delhi:
Inaugurating the Pamban bridge in Tamil Nadu today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made fun of the opposition, he said that he is like people who cry without any reason. In the backdrop of complaints about the delimitation of Chief Minister MK Stalin and the issue of third language, PM Modi said that the funds allocated for the state railway projects have increased by almost seven times.
He said, “The infrastructure of Tamil Nadu is the top priority for the government … before 2014, only Rs 900 crore was received every year for railway projects and you all know who was doing Indi alliance at that time. At this time Tamil Nadu’s railway budget is more than Rs 6000 crore.”
He said that the government is also modernizing 77 railway stations, which includes a single one in Rameswaram.
Pointing to Largasi of the Center in another area, he said, “In the last 10 years, under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, a lot of work has been done on village roads and highways”.
“After 2014, with the help of the central government, about 4,000 km of roads have been constructed in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
Chief Minister Stalin has repeatedly alleged that the Center is trying to curb the southern states – politically through delimitation and culturally through three language policy. He said that the Center has made it clear that if it does not follow the National Education Policy, then the money of the state will be kept back.
However, these were not issues that PM Modi referred to. Instead, he did not take Tamil Nadu leaders to sign English and in Tamil and challenge the state to start medical education in Tamil.
As Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Pamban Bridge, Mr. Stalin left the event, which led to a high inauguration of a government -run medical college in Nilgiris. Even today in his address, he demanded that the Center give a strong commitment that the current ratio of MPs in Parliament would be protected.
“Through this meeting, I want to ask PM Modi to overcome the apprehensions of Tamil Nadu. From the soil of Tamil Nadu, the Prime Minister should assure the Prime Minister that states where the ratio of MPs and percentage controlled population has not been controlled;
The BJP has failed to open its account in Tamil Nadu I in the last two general elections. Now with its majority in Parliament, because it navigates coalition politics at the Center, it is looking for new states.
