PM Modi meets the citizens of the border villages from the home secretary to move forward amidst the firing of Pakistan.


New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met the Union Secretary Govind Mohan to discuss the transfer of citizens living near the border as Pakistan continued firing along the Line of Control (LOC). The meeting was held at PM Modi’s residence, after a few minutes National security advisor (NSA) Ajit Dawal informed the Prime Minister on the current development in the border areas.

The Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) (Mea) Ministry (Mea) said that at least 13 civilians died and more than 50 people were injured in arbitrary repayment firing and artillery of Pakistan. Among the injured people, 44 people are residents of Poonch sector, said this.

In one of the border villages in the URI region, a serious picture was painted after the fire of artillery from across the border as two civilians were destroyed, four people were injured in the incident. In one of the houses, the roof had completely collapsed, and the outer wall was broken.

Eyewitnesses told NDTV’s shelling started at around 2 pm on Wednesday and continued to stop till the afternoon. The villagers also reported listening to the loud explosions of artillery and small firearms. While some ran into nearby areas like Baramullah, others remained inside their homes in fear.

A villager living near the border told NDTV, “There were many but many. There was deaf noise. There was a lot of fear, but where will we go? Where will the poor go? We have nothing.”

Pakistan has been continuously closed after suspending the Indus Water Treaty in India after the Pahgam terror attack on 22 April, killing 26 people. To avenge the deadly attack, India targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir under their operation vermilion. One of the destroyed camps trained David Headley and Ajmal Kasab, 26/11 terrorists behind Mumbai attacks. Others included launchpads for attacks on citizens in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023 and 2024.
