Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to the 12th -century social reformer, philosopher and administrator Baswa, born in the present Karnataka, on his birth anniversary.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On the auspicious occasion of Baswa Jayanti, we remember the intensive knowledge of Jagadguru Basaveshwar. His vision for the society and his untiring efforts to uplift the margins continue to guide.” Basava is a revered person, especially among Lingayats.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the people on the occasion of Akshay Tritia, ensuring that it provides a new strength for the resolve to build ‘Wikceat India’.
