Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the citizens on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, saying that Lord Buddha’s life and teachings will always guide the world towards compassion and peace.
Buddha Purnima, also known as Vesak or Buddha Jayati, is an important spiritual occasion celebrated globally by Buddhists. It marks the birth, knowledge and Mahaparinirvan (death) of Gautama Buddha. In the Hindu calendar, the day of the full moon of Vaisakh month is seen, the day is dedicated to meditation, peace and spiritual reflection.
Sharing a message on X, PM Modi wrote, “Best wishes to all the countrymen on Buddha Purnima. On the basis of the principles of truth, equality and harmony, the messages of Lord Buddha have been a guide to humanity. His life is dedicated to sacrifice and penance that will always motivate the world’s community towards compassion and peace.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also resorted to social media to express his greetings.
“Happy Buddha Purnima to all. The life of Lord Buddha, who followed the path of knowledge, compassion and non -violence, gave the message of equality and unity to the human society, a confluence of thoughts, words and deeds. I pray to Lord Buddha for everyone’s happiness and peace,” he said in a post on X.
Union Minister JP Nadda also extended his heartfelt wishes and said, “I expand my heartfelt greetings and wish all the countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha showed the path of religion, compassion, non -violence and peace for human society.”
He said, “His great ascetic life and his teachings to awaken the ‘self’ and dedicate themselves to the service of others will continue to inspire all of us forever.”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh wrote in his message on X, “On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, I bow to Mahatma Buddha who symbolizes peace, knowledge and compassion.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also congratulated the citizens on this occasion and urged people to take inspiration from the message of Lord Buddha.
He said, “Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all citizens of the state on the auspicious occasion of ‘Buddha Purnima’! Lord Buddha’s life inspires self-realization and selfless service,” he said.
Yogi Adityanath said, “We pledge to build a harmonious and peaceful society by following the path of meditation, compassion and co-existence of Lord Buddha.”
