Poco M7 5G was launched as the latest entry-level smartphone of Xiaomi’s performance-centered subsidiary in India last month. The price of the handset is Rs. It has an octa-core Snapdragon 4 Gan 2SOC, 128 GB built-in storage, 50-megapixel rear camera, and runs on Android 14. It will compete with a similar price smartphone with Samsung Galaxy F06 5G, Redmi A4 and Redmi 14C 5G, Infinix Hot 50 5G.
POCO M7 5G base model priced at Rs. 9,999, while the cost of 8GB version is Rs. 10,999. Poco sells smartphones in three colors. But is it the best budget smartphone that you can buy today? Read our Poco M7 5G review to find out.
Poco M7 5G Design: Hard to spot differences
- Dimensions – 171.9 × 77.8 × 8.2 mm
- Weight – 205.4g
- Color – Mint Green, Ocean Blue (painted in this review), satin black
The Poco M7 5G has a 6.88 -inch display and a very big phone. The lower half of the rear panel of the handset has a matte finish, while the upper part (which also has a 50-megapixel rear camera) has a smooth finish. The rear panel and raised camera island is made of plastic, and the latter shine when held at different angles.
Poco M7 5G has a half-mate and half shiny rear design
If you have seen Redmi A4 or Redmi 14C 5G from last year, the new Poco M7 5G should be felt very familiar. All three phones have the same performance size and dimensions, while both Poco M7 5G and Redmi 14C 5G weigh 204.5G. At one glance, these three models are the only way to identify Poco’s handset on the rear panel looking for half-mat, half-glossy design.
On the front, the Poco M7 5G sports an LCD screen with thick bezels on the top, left and right edges, and a single thick chin. Top homes have a waterdrop-style notch selfie camera, and the smartphone is similar to the aforesaid Redmi phone.
The side of the Poco handset is made of plastic, and a volume rocker and power button on the right, a USB type-C port at the bottom and a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top edge. The review unit we found did not include a screen guard or cover. You get a 33W power adapter, USB Type-A from USB Type-C Cable and a SIM Ejector Tool.
Poco M7 5G Software: Old Android Edition, Preinstall Apps
- Software – Hyperos
- Edition – Android 14
- Latest Security Patch – 1 January, 2025
Poco M7 runs on 5G Android 14, with Xiaomi’s hyperose skin on top. It is a bit disappointing to see a ship with this version six months after Google released Android 15. The company says that Poco M7 5G will receive two Android OS updates (meaning its last major update will be Android 16) and four -year security updates.
Poco M7 5G comes with a handful of prefinted apps (tap to expand)
The hyperose skin is adapted to walk on Poco M7 5G, and switch to the previous app and feels smooth back. The unit we got had 6GB of RAM, in which the memory extension feature was closed by default.
Like other smartphones in this price segment, Poco M7 5G includes some pre -gentle apps and games. These include Spotify, Snapchat, LinkedIn, WPS Office, Facebook, Word Steerry: Crossword, Jewels Blast, Tile Fun and A couple of Bubble Shooter Games.
They are located in folders called “more apps” and “games”, which also indicate you to install apps like Jungle Rumi, Ludo Supreme, MPL and Dream 11. These apps can be uninstall, and the folders disappear after their content is empty. When opening these apps, you have to disable advertisements on various system applications to prevent full-screen advertisements.
Poco M7 5G Performance: Good Price For Money
- Processor – Snapdragon 4 General 2
- Memory – up to 8GB LPDDR4X
- Storage – 128GB UFS 2.2
Poco M7 has a 4Nm Snapdragon 4 General 2 chip inside the Poco M7 5G-one processor provides strength to Redmi 14C, and includes two Cortex-A78 Corps (2.2GHz) and Six Cortex-A55 Corps (1.95GHz), as well as with Adreno 613 GPU. The chipset is slightly more capable than Snapdragon 4S Gen 2 SoC on Redmi A4, and it can handle popular apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and X (East Twitter).

Games like Temple Run 2 and Asphalt Legends run on default settings without any problem. I also run Battleground Mobile India (BGMI), which went well on smooth settings with ultra frimit options. The phone does not have gyroscopes, so you will need to adjust while transferring your character in the game.
We also conducted benchmark tests to see how Poco M7 5G performs against rivals such as 5G A4 5G, Moto G35, and more expensive HMD fusion, including the same chipset.

The Poco M7 5G has a 6.88-inch HD+ (720 × 1640 pixels) IPS LCD screen has a 120Hz refresh rate. While there is an automatic mode that switchs between 60Hz and 120Hz, you can also choose one of two manually. I enabled the standard color scheme in performance settings, which offered better color accuracy.
Performing Poco M7 5G is bright enough for most external scenarios
Poco says that the performance of the handset has a peak of 450nits (and 600nits in high brightly mode). The screen becomes quite bright during the day during the day, except that you are using the phone when it is very sunny outside.
Poco M7 5G Camera: Civilized Day Photos
- Main camera – 50 -Megapixel (F/ 1.8), PDAF, 1080P/ 30fps videos
- Selfie Camera – 8 -Megapixel
Poco M7 5G with a 50-megapixel primary camera phase detection with autofocus (PDAF) and a f/1.8 aperture. This camera distributes bright and sharp photos during the day, and the colors are accurately reproduced. The images captured with the rear camera expands greatly when you zoom in.
Up to bottom: Primary rear camera, 2x zoom, portrait (tap to expand) samples
The primary camera has a 2x in-sensor crop option, which allows you to zoom on topics that are far away. When there is enough natural light, this mode can give decent pictures of the subjects that are slightly ahead.
When shooting images with Poco M7 5G, I noticed that the camera app is accelerated to capture images in default mode. Unlike some other budget phones, which take a moment to capture each shot, Poco M7 5G saved each image as soon as I tapped the shutter button.
If you are shooting images in low light scenarios, I recommend using default photo mode (wherever possible) until your theme is still completely or your surroundings are very dark. Images of animals and other moving subjects taken with default mode have more details (and more noise), but it is better to soften on the images captured when the night mode is competent.
Low light sample (tap to expand)
The default camera app has two other modes – 50MP and portrait. In the east, very detailed pictures capture and the camera takes a moment to save before getting ready to take another shot. However, if you want to capture images with great detail and do not consider the additional storage required by these photos, then I recommend using a 50-megapixel mode.
Without support for image stabilization, Poco M7 captures unstable videos during the day and night when using a 5G rear camera or front-facing camera. If you have a handheld gimbal, you may be able to reduce it. You can record up to 1080p on 30fps using a rear camera and selfie shooter.
Poco M7 5G Battery: One and a half days on a charge
- Battery capacity – 5,160mAh
- Wired Charging – 18W (USB Type -C)
A combination of 5,160mAh battery and efficient Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC at Poco M7 5G, the battery is sufficient to deliver one and a half days of life. This included calls and textting (with WhatsApp in fellow device mode), some light gaming, browsing Instagram and X mixture and video streaming on YouTube.
Poco M7 does not ship with a case in 5G box
On our HD video battery loop test, Poco M7 5G lasted for 23 hours and 10 minutes. Keep in mind that this is a synthetic test, so that the real world vary depending on real use. The phone ships with a 33W charger, but the handset can be charged only at 18W. It took about 1 hour and 50 minutes for full fee.

Rupee. 9,999, Poco M7 5G is one of the highest value-wealth offerings available in India. It provides support for 5G connectivity and has an familiar looking design, and provides decent camera performance during the day. Battery life and charging speed is also equal to other similar price smartphones.
It is disappointing to look at the Poco M7 5G launch with Android 14 when Android 15 is out for several months when its largest rival – Samsung Galaxy F06 5G – has been slated to achieve ships with the latest version and four Android Edition upgradation. Other options of Poco M7 5G include Redmi A4 (Review), Redmi 14C 5G, and Moto G35 (Review).
