New Delhi:
All the lights will be closed in Ferozepur, Punjab, in a blackout exercise from 9 pm to 9.30 pm in Punjab, in the midst of increased tension with Pakistan.
To ensure that the blackout exercise can be successfully performed, the Chief Executive Officer of Ferozepur Cantonment asked the Deputy Commissioner and the station headquarters to “support and cooperate”.
The officer asked the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to cut power within the stipulated time of exercise.
“You are requested to ensure adequate security arrangements during this period, given the total blackout,” the Cantonment Board official said in a letter.
“The purpose of this rehearsal is to ensure preparations and effectiveness in implementing blackout processes during war dangers,” the official said.
A person on a battery rickshaw with a loudspeaker went around the city on a battery rickshaw and announced about the planned blackout to citizens in the neighborhood of the cantonment tonight.
Last month, tension between India and Pakistan is more tension after terrorists with borders killing 26 tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
India has banned all Pakistani visas and suspended the Indus Water Treaty, as a response to the neighboring country’s policy to send terrorists to attack Indian forces and citizens in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistani forces have violated the ceasefire along with the Line of Control (LOC) several times in the last few days. Indian forces have responded with effective fire.
India launched an aerial attack at a terrorist camp in Balakot, Pakistan after a terrorist associated with Pakistan in February 2019, killing 40 Indian soldiers in a suicide bomb attack in Pulwama.
In 2016, Indian special forces carried out a surgical strike against targets in Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK) during the Line of Control in response to the murder of 19 Indian soldiers at an Indian Army camp near Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
