With his wife and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Robert Vadra arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office for the second consecutive day in Gurugram land case. He entered the office, but only after hugging Ms. Gandhi.
In Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, a businessman and brother -in -law of the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Vadra, is seen in front of the ED for his inquiry in the 2008 Haryana land deal.
Official sources said that he was questioned for about five hours on Tuesday and his statement was recorded by the Federal Probe Agency under the prevention of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The investigation against Shri Vadra is associated with a land deal in Manesar-Shikohpur (now Sector 83) in Haryana in Gurugram. The February 2008 Bhoomi Sauda was done by a company called Skylight Hospitality Private Limited, where Mr. Vadra was the first director, as he bought 3.5 acres of land in Shikohpur, which was at a price of Rs 7.5 crore from a firm called Omkareshwar Properties.
A Congress government led by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was in power at that time. Four years later, in September 2012, the company sold this 3.53 acres of land to realty major DLF for Rs 58 crore.
In October 2012, the IAS officer Ashok Khamka got into a dispute dispute, then posted as the Director General of Land Integration and the land record–in-inspector-general of Haryana, canceled the interaction of classifying transactions as a violation of the State Consumption Act and some related procedures.
Haryana Police filed an FIR in 2018 to investigate the deal.
Mr. Vadra called the ED action “political vendetta”. He said that he has always collaborated with investigative agencies and has equipped huge amounts of documents, emphasizing that there is a need to close in cases that are as old as 20 years old.
