Rahul Gandhi demanded a “martyr status” for Pahalgam terrorist attack victims

New Delhi:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday demanded a martyrdom for 26 victims of the deadly Pahgam attack and “requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respect the sentiments of the families of those who lost their lives by honoring them.”

The Congress leader wrote on a position on X, “I stand with the families of those killed in the Pahgam attack and demanding the martyr’s status.

The Congress leader posted a clips of his meeting in Kanpur with the family of Shubam Dwivedi, one of the victims of the April 22 attack in Pahgam.

In the video, the victim’s wife is heard saying to Rahul Gandhi, “I don’t want anything for myself, but for Shubam I want martyr status for her. Not only for Shubam, for all 26 people.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s father told the Congress leader, “You can give us, you can talk to the government, talk to the Prime Minister.”

In another clip of a press conference in the national capital, Rahul Gandhi sought martyr status for the victims killed in cold blood, saying that perhaps the issue is more important than the caste census.

“Today it is probably more important than the caste census, I went to Kanpur, and talked to the families of the victims of terrorism. Their son was killed in cold blood without mercy. The Prime Minister has said that people have been martyred, and we want you to give them a martyr position,” Mr. Gandhi said in the press conference.

Earlier in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Shubam Dwivedi’s father, Sanjay Dwivedi had said, “I demand that Shubam should be given the status of ‘martyr’. Rahul Gandhi said that he had written a letter to the PM for a special session. ‘Shaheed’ for Shubam.”
