Red warning for rain, storm released for Delhi and nearby areas


New Delhi:

A red warning has been issued by the Meteorological Office for rain and storms for the Delhi and the National Capital Region, which is a warning of squeli winds in a range of 60–100 kmph between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm.

A red alert (which stands for ‘most vigilance/action action’) is the highest category of warning.

In a Nuestst released to the Delhi and the National Capital Region on Saturday evening, India’s Meteorological Department warned “light to moderate rain with severe thunderstorms/power/dust affair/hailstorm.

At least six people – two in Delhi and the same number were killed in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida when Delhi and NCR were killed on Wednesday evening. The storm caused heavy damage, uprooted trees and poles.

Many parts of Delhi and NCR also saw power cuts.
