Religion can cause happiness, it should not change for greed, fear: RSS chief

Valsad:

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that a person can face greed, temptation and wooing in everyday life, and they can take people away from their religion, but religion can lead everyone to happiness.

People should not change under the influence of greed or fear (religion), Bhagwat said in Sadgurudham in Barumal in Valsad district of Gujarat, where he attended the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Shri Bhav Bhaveshwar Mahadev Temple.

“We know how to unite and want to unite. We do not want to fight. But we have to save ourselves. For this, there are arrangements since ancient times, because today there are forces that we want to change (changed).

“But when there is no such force in our daily life, the events of greed, temptation and wooing come out,” said the top nationwiya Swayamsevik Sangh (RSS) leader.

At the time of Mahabharata, he said, there was no one to convert, but what Duryodhana did in greed to take the kingdom of the Pandavas.

He said, “Religious conduct should be seen regularly. We should not work under the influence of attachment and attraction, nor should we get caught in selfish greed. We should not get away from our belief. That is why such centers have been established here,” he said.

Bhagwat was referring to Sadgurudham, which conducts social activities in remote tribal areas for the upliftment of tribals.

He said that when such centers did not work in these areas, the ascetic used to go to the village from the village, from which people used to listen to satsang and keep them on the path of religion.

Later, as the population increased, arrangements were made to establish these centers, where people would travel and get the benefit of religion, they said.

He said, “Such centers were called temples, which have always been a place where the whole society gathers, where they take advantage of worship, spirituality, and also get an opportunity to practice art,” he said.

These centers are necessary, and people from different regions of life are contributing to this effort, said the RSS chief.

He said that saints go to the forests, preach to people, and do whatever arrangement is required for their life. “They do not change people. They are firm in their religion. In one’s religion, there is no other troubles. Our religion, Sanatan Dharma, will not be ill for anyone,” Bhagwat said.

He said that the lack of religion can motivate people to move to drugs and alcohol, eventually destroying their lives.

He said, “Our country is a country of religion. Our country arises when religious conduct fills the society. The whole world looks at us for it. It is our job to strengthen such centers. By doing this, we have to ensure our welfare, service to the nation and the welfare of the whole humanity,” he said.

Bhagwat said that daily worship in festivals and temples also contribute to the economy.

“Now you must have heard how many trillion dollars were generated in Maha Kumbh. We are not people who do business in the name of religion. That is why we have not talked about it yet. However, if we have to explain to the world, we have to speak their language,” he said.

He said that crores of devotees visited the Triveni Sangam, so that a sacred dip could be taken despite facing inconveniences.

“Because it is a matter of religion, and everyone believes that it will originate from India, the country should live its spiritual heritage properly and be right for its values. For this reason, centers of centers like Swamiji are necessary,” he said.
