Restore peace, security and constitutional system in Manipur, Metei Alliance says

Imphal:

An influential global umbrella body of the Meitei community of Manipur today appealed to the Central Government to appeal to the Central Government to take immediate and decisive action to take firm steps to end the suspension of the cookie terrorist groups (SOO) agreement and to end terrorism.

The statement came when the state entered the second year of living under immense difficulties after an outbreak of ethnic violence between the Metei community and the cookie tribes on May 3, 2023.

Recalling how violence began two years ago, till date, the Miti alliance accused the drug money-funded cookie terrorist groups of armed aggression, which carries out a strategic orchestrated attacks to disrupt communal harmony and to prevent its functions against cross-border drug trafficking, an illegal OKMAMARA Closes the forest grander.

“Since then, Manipur has tolerated continuous disturbance, has been severely affecting peace, security and normal life across the state … Despite taking control of the state’s law and order situation, the central government’s delay and inadequate response allowed cookie terrorists – under the Sooo Agreement – Under the Sooo Agreement – Meitei to meet the coordinated attacks against citizens,” said the Metri alliance.

He said, “The latter installation of the buffer zone by the central forces, to prevent further violence, inadvertently provided the facility to build an enclave, which has since served as a launchpad for the ongoing terrorist operation, which targets citizens,” said this.

Meitei Alliance carried forward the seven points, which suggest that the center should consider taking.

Emphasis was laid on intensifying the war on the drugs campaign, which includes complete elimination of illegal opium pope cultivation. It demanded the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercises to locate foreigners.

Metelli Alliance said, “Identify and deport illegal migrants from neighboring countries. Eliminate artificial buffer zones and ensure unrestricted movement of all citizens across the state.”

The Center’s order to ensure free movement across Manipur failed after the cookie tribes protested against the verdict.

“The people of Manipur suffer under the weight of long -term violence and uncertainty. It is time for the government to work with a resolution and ensure that every citizen’s fundamental rights, security and dignity are restored and preserved,” said the Miti Alliance.

Meitei Alliance is one of the two outfits – the other is a prominent citizen body of Swadeshi separate tribe Thadu – which was first found on a general platform and in May 2023 for a general goal after an outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur. On 8 March, Meitei Alliance and Thadou Inpi Manipur said “important and historical platform”.
