After 12 days, the Petting Retreat ceremony resumed in the joint check post of the Punjab Frontier, Attari in Amritsar on Tuesday.
The retreat ceremony was held for media personnel, while the general public was not allowed to attend the ceremony.
During the flag-linked ceremony, there was no handshake exercise between the Border Security Force soldiers and Pakistani Rangers, while the international gates of both sides remained closed. In addition, there will be no exchange of sweets or gifts on any occasion.
A source said that in the current circumstances, this program of the Border Security Force has once again been opened to the public, so that through this unique performance of patriotism, the bond between the security forces and the public can be strengthened and the awareness of border security can be increased, a source said.
On 8 May, BSF stopped public entry for the program in view of “public safety”. The Indian flag is launched every evening by BSF soldiers in synchronization with Pakistan Rangers, which is on joint check posts in front of Pakistan’s Vagah, Hussainiwala and Fazilka district in Ferozepur district of Gandazpur district and in Fazilka district.
