Samsung Galaxy S26 series to use Incjet Printing to enable the thinner lens module: report

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was unveiled in January this year, and the company recently jumped into a slim smartphone bandwagan with the Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple is expected to enter the slim handset space with the iPhone 17 Air later this year. Now, a new report states that Samsung is planning to dilute the camera module in next year’s Galaxy S26 series. The company is likely to implement a new lens production method to make the camera module of the next Galaxy S series phone diluted.

Samsung aims to reduce the Galaxy S26 camera module

According to a report by Korean Publication ELEC, Samsung is working to reduce the thickness of the lens module Using Galaxy S26 Series smartphone A new “inkjet printing” process. The camera module on the current phone has films between the lens to prevent light reflection (provocative) and light overlapping (ghosting). Instead of using films, Samsung’s electro-mechanics division will allegedly use matte ink between the rib surfaces of the lens through the inkjet printing process.

Applying mats ink is reportedly more beneficial than attaching the film in reducing the distance between the lenses. This method is said to reduce the thickness of the lens module. Samsung Electro-Mechanics allegedly applied for patent in 2018 for this technique.

Camera Island is usually the thickest part of a major phone. Therefore, reducing its size is likely to reduce the overall thickness of the phone, which offers a smooth look. Samsung is first asked to use the new process for the Galaxy S26 series cameras, which is expected to include Vanilla Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26 Ultra models.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this month, emphasizing slim design. The handset measures 5.8 mm in thickness and weighs 163 grams.

Apart from Samsung, other smartphone brands are actively looking to unveil the handsets which are quite thinner than today’s average flagship handset. Apple is expected to reveal its iPhone 17 Air with slim-down form factors in September this year. Infinix Hot 60 Pro+ is also expected to land soon with 5.95 mm profile. It is said to launch the world’s thinning curved display phone.
