Samsung One UI 8 update removes OEM unlocking options for Custom Rome: Report: Report

Samsung released its Android 16-based One UI 8 firmware earlier this month with the launch of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Amidst the innumerable new additions, the South Korean tech giants are said to have quietly removed some facilities. According to a report, the OEM unlocking setting is not found in a UI 8 stable build anywhere. This option enables Samsung users to flash and run custom Rome on its Galaxy devices.

No OEM unlock in a UI 8

According to a Sammyguru report, Samsung has removed the OEM Unlocking Togal which was previously found in developer options. It is said that the stable One UI 8 was applied to the build which was released with the seventh generation Galaxy foldables, as well as a UI 8 beta update for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Further, the report suggests that a cruel force cannot unlock the bootloader on the work -running Galaxy devices running a UI 8.
