Schools closed in 5 border districts of J&K

The colleges and other educational institutions of schools are closed in three districts of Kashmir Valley and are amidst action against terrorist hotbeds in five districts of Jammu Division. This decision was taken by the authorities keeping in mind the security concerns in the region. In a post on X (East Twitter), Divisional Commissioner in Jammu region, Ramesh Kumar said that the educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Ponch were closed due to “prevalent position”. Shortly after midnight, India launched a military strike at the terrorist launchpad in Pakistan and Pakistan captured Kashmir, two weeks after 26 tourists were killed by 26 tourists in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Important things to note for students and parents

The closure of schools has highlighted the severity of the situation in the area. Students and parents are advised to contact local authorities and educational institutions for details about the opening of schools and colleges.

India’s Operation Sindoor

In an overnight response to the Pahgam attack, India destroyed five terrorist camps and training facilities in “measured, non-esclery, proportional and responsible” in response to Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorism, the government said.

Of the nine goals, four were in Pakistan and captured Kashmir in Pakistan. In a press briefing, two female military officers – Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sophia Qureshi – said the camps were selected on the basis of “reliable intelligence” and focused on “destroying terrorist infrastructure and disabled terrorists”.

Operation Sindor is India’s first three-service military mission since the 1971 war with Pakistan.

Impact on boundary areas

In view of the tension between India and Pakistan, all schools in the border districts of Ferozepur, Pathankot and Amritsar in Punjab remained closed on Wednesday. The Deputy Commissioner of Ferozepur issued an order in this regard and stated that all the schools in Pathankot would also be closed for the next 72 hours.

A similar situation was seen in Rajasthan, where all government and private schools were closed as a precautionary measure in Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Bermer districts.
