In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, Pardip port in Jagat Singhpur district of Odisha has been placed on high alert. Security has been extended with additional forces deployed at major places.
Tourists are banned from reaching some areas within the port. Port officials have increased patrolling and monitoring.
In addition, the movement of ships coming to prevent any security threat is being closely monitored. A three-layer security system has been installed in Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur district.
Security has intensified in and around Shri Jagannath temple in Puri.
“In the current situation, security measures in Puri have been strengthened. The security system in the Jagannath temple has also been intensified. The deployment on all the doors in the temple has been intensified. The patrol has increased and a QRT is also placed on the standby. Anti-Sambskotage is being tested regularly.”

Arrangements have been made for heavy deployment of security personnel to ensure the safety of devotees and temple premises. The increased security comes in view of the recent security audit organized by the National Security Guard (NSG). Several precautionary measures have been taken to strengthen monitoring and reaction systems around the temple.
Amidst increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Odisha government on Friday tightened security in all major establishments, including integrated test range (ITR) in Chandipur in Balasore district.
Kolkata and Haldia ports in West Bengal are also in a state of alert.
A statement by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port said, “According to the direction of the Directorate of Shipping, SMPK has increased its security level to 2. All personnel have been instructed to remain in vigilant and surveillance, ensure that any suspected activity within the port premises and waterways should be brought immediately on the information of security personnel without delay.”
“To ensure complete operational readiness, all the employees’ holidays, (including contractual employees) were canceled from May 10 to May 14, 2025. In addition, employees need to stay at the headquarters, even during the weekly off days. Pilot and dock pilots will be on high alerts and will be ready for Auto Extracts from KDS and HDC.
