A Shiromani Akali Dal councilor was shot dead by three bike-related people in Amritsar, Punjab. The victim, Harjinder Singh Bahman, was killed near a gurdwara in Amritsar.
The victim’s family claimed that “the attacker was the same person who had earlier threatened him and set him on fire at his residence.”
Akali councilors came to Chhaharta in Amritsar to attend a ceremony. As soon as he came out, a bike was set on fire by masked men.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Harpal Singh Randhiva said, “Harjinder was on his way when at least three people approached and set him on fire. The victim died of injuries in the hospital.”

Police said that they have started an investigation.
The General Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Bikram Singh Majithia shared CCTV footage with the attack on Harjinder Singh’s residence a few days ago. Mr. Majithia called the “deteriorating law and order situation” in Punjab and alleged that no action was taken on threatening the councilor, and “he was murdered today”.
The footage shown two people, including other faces, walking on a narrow road and reached near a house at around 1 pm. One man is holding a phone, while the other opened fire in Harjinder Singh’s house.
The law of law, law status of law, Shri Amritsar Sahib has been handled by Harjinder Singh, the current counselor of Shiromani Akali Dal Harjinder Singh.

Both attackers loaded their guns. One of them continued to pull the trigger, but did not take out any bullets, while the other loaded the arms and removed two shots. The attackers then left.
Mr. Majithia asked the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann why “action was not taken after receiving the complaint from the Director General of Police,” AAP government should “wake up from their sleep and restore the law and order situation in the state.”
