Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced measures to deal with any problem arising out of the prevailing situation with the Pakistan border in the north and west of India, and also said that the state will assess its preparations for any possible crisis.

The Chief Minister issued instructions to every department. The electricity department should conduct emergency exercises and increase public awareness on blackout preparations.
The departments of roads and bridges must ensure that all important roads and bridges are completely operational and structurally sound.
The health department is also on high alert, in which hospitals are fully equipped and staff on duty have been staffed. The Food and Civil Supplies Department has been asked to maintain adequate stock of essential commodities and fuel to ensure uninterrupted distribution.
Police and security forces have been asked to intensify vigilance, especially on borders, and the Reserve Battalion of India (IRB) and Sikkim armed police soldiers. The Disaster Management Department has been asked to activate the siren system and deploy trained personnel immediately in any emergency.
The Chief Minister said, “I want to assure the people of Sikkim that the government is taking all necessary and active measures to ensure the security, security and preparations for our state. Given Sikkim’s strategic location and closeness to international borders, it is fully prepared to be ready for our vigilance.
He said, “We are strengthening inter-departmental coordination, strengthening important infrastructure, and increasing emergency response mechanisms in all districts. Our law enforcement agencies, medical services and civil administration are on high warning to ensure uninterrupted public services and maintain peace and order.”
The Chief Minister also appealed to the citizens. “I urge all citizens to act responsibly, be calm, be informed through official channels, cooperate with the authorities, and avoid sharing unannounced or sensitive information that can compromise unnecessary nervousness or security. National security is our priority, and the state government is committed to public security, regional integrity and welfare.”
Sikkim, located in the eastern Himalayas, shares a border with China. Many states have announced alerts amidst the ongoing situation with Pakistan.
Pakistani troops violated a ceasefire with India after the April 22 terror attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 people, mostly tourists.
On Wednesday and Thursday intervening night, Pakistan tried to attack military targets at 15 places across India, including Avantpora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Baghinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalod, Udia and Bhoj.
This week, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ and destroyed several terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (POK).
