In parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has a voice in Chandigarh and a blackout has been applied in Chandigarh, between a missile and drone attacks and in Pathankot, Punjab. Shops have been asked to close and people have been asked to go home.
Officials said a blackout has been implemented in neighboring Mohali.
A statement by the District Collector of Chandigarh said, “Keeping in mind the ongoing emergency, all the residents are requested to immediately respond to the sound of the siren and close all the lights and it is also advised not to enter the venture on outside or roofs.”
After failing in its earlier attempt to establish in 15 places in India – a list which included Chandigarh -Pakistan on Thursday evening, launched at least at least eight missiles in RS Pura, Arnia, Samba and Hiranagar in Jammu and Kashmir. Missiles were also stopped at Jammu.
Shelling was reported from Pathankot in Punjab, which is about 30 km from the international border.
Blackouts have also been implemented in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, Amritsar in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana.
On the night of Wednesday and Thursday’s intervention, Pakistan tried to attack military goals in Avantpora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phaloli and Bhuj. The Ministry of Defense had said that missiles and drones were neutralized by India’s air defense systems and the debris was being collected as proof of Pakistan’s attack.
In response, India targeted air defense systems at many places in Pakistan and neutralized one in Lahore.
At a press conference on Thursday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also exploded the claims of Pakistan’s growing claims, indicating that the neighboring country started growing up with a terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 people.
“The original growth was made by Pakistan on 22 April. We are the ones who are responding to that growth with the action taken tomorrow morning. And then, I would like to emphasize that the action was stopped-there is nothing that we are doing, and again, nothing else that we are moving forward. What we are moving forward. Now, once, once again, and the answer will be answered.”
