Bengaluru:
As the chilling details emerge on the fact that a former Karnataka police chief was allegedly killed by his wife, a police report alleged that the couple often fought a fight and the wife threatened her husband in the past.
Om Prakash, an Indian police service officer of the 1981 batch, was found dead in a pool of blood in a Bangalore house yesterday. He had many knives for his stomach and chest. Sources say his wife is a major suspect.
Kartikesh, son of the retired officer, has informed the police that his mother Pallavi was threatening to kill her father.

Due to these dangers, Prakash went to live with his sister. But two days before the murder, his daughter Kruthi met him and pressured him to return. She brought her back home against her wish, Kartikesh said in her complaint, on the basis of which a case has been registered.
On the day of the murder, Kartikesh was at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domalur. In the evening, he said that he received a call from one of his neighbors in which he told that his father was found lying down. He went home in a few minutes and found his father lying in a pool of blood with several injuries. A broken bottle and a knife were found next to his body, he said.
Kartikesh also claimed that his mother and sister were suffering from mental health issues.
He said, “My mother, Pallavi, and my sister, Kruthi, are suffering from Kruthi, depression and used to fight often with my father. I firmly suspect that he is involved in my father’s murder,” he said.
Pallavi and Kruthi have been questioned by the police for more than 12 hours, but no arrests have been made yet.

Sources said that it had emerged during preliminary investigation that Pallavi allegedly threw chili powder in light, tied it, attacked her with a glass bottle, and stabbed her. Sources said that after killing him, his wife confessed to another policeman’s wife that she had killed her husband. The woman informed her husband, who told the police about the murder.
Reports suggest that the former DGP and his wife had a dispute over a property that was physically changed and allegedly caused murder. Police is also investigating if his daughter Kruthi played a role in the murder.
Om Prakash, originally as Bihar, holds a master’s degree in geology. He became the Director General of Police, Karnataka in March 2025. Earlier, he served as heads of fire and emergency services and home guards.
