Sony Schedule Launch Event for May 13; Xperia 1 VII is expected to unveil

Sony Xperia 1 VII is expected to have a cover break soon. The company has confirmed that it will host a launch event next week. The alleged handset, which was recently seen on a benchmarking website, is expected to be unveiled during the incident. Prior to this, the leak has indicated on the colorways of the expected design and anticipated smartphone. It is expected to arrive as the successor of Sony Xperia 1 VI, which was introduced in select global markets in May 2024 with Sony Xperia 10 VI.

Sony Confirmed In an X post that it will announce a new Xperia product at the Sest (10PM IST) on 13 May at 4 am. Launch event will be Lively On the official YouTube channel. The campaigner poster teases the upcoming product and shows the silhouette of a handset. The company is expected to present the Sony Xperia 1 VII handset in the event.

In particular, a Sony smartphone with model number Sony XQ-FS54 is expected to be Sony Xperia 1 VII, recently appeared on Geekbench. It is expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 elite SOC with 12 GB of RAM, and can run on Android 15 out-off-the-box.

An earlier report suggested that Sony Xperia 1 VII was seen at the NCC certification site in Taiwan. The listing showed the alleged handsets in black, naval green and purple options. It is expected to receive a triple rear camera unit including an examore-T sensor. The handset can measure 165 mm in length and 74 mm in width. If true, it will be slightly longer than 162 mm long Sony Xperia 1 VI.

Sony Xperia 1 VI comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC with 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The phone runs on Android 14 and sports a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ Bravia-Tund OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It gets a 12-megapixel ultravide camera with a 48-megapixel primary Sony Examor Tea sensor and a 12-megapixel zoom shooter and another 12-megapixel sensor in the front. It packs 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.
