ISC topper Sreejani of West Bengal scored 400 out of 400, he did not maintain his surname, when he filed his examination form, saying that this decision is a decision arising out of his faith in a society -free society based on caste, creed, religion and gender.
A student of Future Foundation School in South Kolkata achieved an innocent 100 in all his subjects.
Despite the intensive academic program, he got time to participate in women on August 14 after the rape of RG car medical student.
“As a person, this was my decision – supported by my parents and sister. I believe in a society that rise above the divisions in caste, gender and religion, and beyond the economic situation. For me, a surname does not matter. I am always known by my first name for my friends and loved ones. Why do I fully support my family?
His father Debashis Goswami, Professor of an Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) and a Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Awardee, and Assistant Professor Mother Gopa Mukherjee of Gurudas College, Mother Gopa Mukherjee, felt proud of their principles and values along with the feats of his daughter.
“Both my daughters have maintained those values and beliefs since birth.
Ms. Mukherjee, along with both her daughters, RG used to actively participate repeatedly during the car protest.
“For me, walking with thousands of fellow citizens seeking justice for the RG car victim never struggles with educational preparation,” he said.
Sreejani, who aspires to do research in pure science like his father, said he never saw himself as a specific study type.
“Beyond the hours of study, I will always be able to find time for Adda with my parents, sister and close friends,” he said.
When asked about his attitude on religion, he said, “I wrote ‘humanism’ in the slot for religion on the application form.”
“We have an issue if a candidate wants to get out of surname. It is completely within the law,” said an official of Future Foundation, Regent Park.
