Student, retired teacher, arrested for comment on lawyer J&K attack between 19


Guwahati:

At least 19 people have been arrested in three states in the Northeast during the comment on a terrorist attack in Pahgam, claiming 26 lives, including a naval officer and a Bureau of Intelligence.

Those who have been arrested in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura include an MLA, a journalist, student, a lawyer and retired teacher. Most of the arrests were from social media posts.

So far, there have been 14 arrests in Assam alone.

The first arrest took place on Thursday when Aminul Islam, an MLA from the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), was arrested in Assam and was accused with treason for his statement that the Pulwama attack in 2019 and the Pahgam attack on Tuesday were “conspiracy” by the government. He was sent to police custody for four days on Friday.

Other arrests in Assam till Friday included MD Jabir Hussain from Halakandi, MD AK Bahoudin and MD Javed Majumar from Silchar, MD Mahhar Mia from Morigon and MD Sahil Ali from Sivasagar. MD Must Ahmed Alias ​​Sahel from Karimganj was arrested on Facebook on Friday night for posting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

Among them, Hussain is a journalist, a computer science student at the University of Assam at Bahauddin Silker and Manoar is a lawyer.

On Saturday, the police arrested 25 -year -old MD Zarif Ali and Anil Bania, a student body district secretary Satra Mukti Sangram Parishad, Biswanath. Sumon Mazumdar alias Bulbul Alom Majumdar was arrested in Halakandi, Mashud Azhar in Nagaon and another person was arrested from Hazo near Guwahati – all for making “anti -India comments” online.

Cachar District Police also arrested two more persons for posting “Pakistan supporting material” on social media.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “If necessary, we will implement the provisions of the National Security Act on them. We are investigating all social media positions, and action will be taken against those who feel that, there is no equality between Bharat and Pakistan … There is no equality between Bharat and Pakistan. Both countries are dancing and we should live in this way.”

Tripura

In Tripura, there have been four arrests so far, including two retired teachers.

A retired teacher and a Kuldip Mandal Johar Debnath was arrested for “anti-national comments online” in the context of the Pahgam terror attack in Dhalai district. Another retired teacher, Sojal Chakraborty, was arrested from Dharamanagar in North Tripura district and Vishuul Islam was taken into custody from Sonamura in Sephijala district.

Meghalaya

After posting “Anti-National Comment” on a video telecast by a news channel in Guwahati, a 30-year-old man named Simon Shela was arrested on Friday from East Khasi Hills district.
