New Delhi:
The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to rest the ban on construction, storage and sale on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, which had been dangerous for a long time.
A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan said that a large part of the population worked on the roads and was the most affected by pollution.
The bench said that not everyone can go to their residence to fight an air purifier or pollution.
The court said, “Many orders passed by this court during the last six months bring the terrible situation on records with which air pollution has become stronger in Delhi … The right to health is an essential part of Article 21 of the Constitution, hence the right to live in a pollution -free environment.”
As long as the court was not satisfied that the pollution was minimized due to “so -called” green crackers, there was no question of rethinking previous orders, it was added.
The apex court stated that the orders passed from time to time indicated that the direction and restrictions on the use of firecrackers were warned by the “extraordinary status” created in Delhi.
