Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Excise Minister S. Muthusmi on Saturday harassed the Enforcement Directorate to the State Government officials in an investigation on the allegation of a scam in the state -run Tasmac and violated compulsory procedures by the Supreme Court.
The minister accused the central agency of “political vendetta” and strongly condemned it and assured all legal measures against it. In addition, Muthusi said that the government would return to the state officials all the time.
In a statement, Muthusi, who handles the portfolio of housing, prohibition and excise, said that the government-run liquor chain was the pre-political objectives of Ed’s discoveries at the headquarters of TASMAC (Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation).
It was an attempt to portray such as irregularities in Tasmac during DMK rule. However, ED’s action was based on matters registered during the AIADMK rule by the Directorate and Anti -Corruption Directorate.
During the discoveries, no evidence was found to certify alleged irregularities in the functioning of Tasmac. When the case was, Ed issued a press note based on “imagination”, claiming a Rs 1,000 crore scam in Tasmac.
“To justify this wrong statement, the ED is constantly causing pain for the authorities. In continuing yesterday (May 16, 2025), Ed discovered in the homes of TasMac Managing Director (S Visakan) and others. In these discoveries, there was no evidence, and the ED continued to harass the state government officials.” The Tasmac headquarters here was discovered in March this year and on 16 May, several other places were discovered.
The minister also alleged that the ED was forcing officials. However, he did not expand.
In addition, he said: “I violate the guidelines prescribed by the Supreme Court in many enforcement directorate cases and condemn my strong condemnation from the Tamil Nadu government for the political vengeance based action of ED.” The minister assured that the state government will always stand behind the officials by taking all the legal steps against such ‘Vendetta’ action of ED.
