A tennis coach has been sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment for allegedly sexual harassment of his minor student, police on Thursday claimed that the case was resolved in 50 days.
Delhi Police said in a statement that the case was registered at Nihal Vihar police station on 17 March after a complaint on 17 March.
A Class 8 student alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a tennis coach living in Nihal Vihar during the night of March 16 and 17.
The statement said that the minor nephew of the accused allegedly kept an eye out during the attack.
Based on the minor’s statement, an FIR was registered and an investigation was initiated, after which the accused was tracked and arrested, police said, further claimed that the charge sheet was filed within 50 days.
On May 19, the POCSO court sentenced the coach to seven years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The police statement said that the teenager was presented before the Kishore Justice Board.
