NIA and intelligence agencies have so far questioned more than 2,500 persons regarding the attack. So far, 186 people remain in custody for further inquiries, reflecting the broader nature of the investigation.

After the attack, coordinated raids were launched in Jammu and Kashmir. Members of restricted organizations and residences associated with sympathetic residences such as various Hurriyat conference factions and Jamaat-e-Islami were discovered at several places, including Kupwara, Handa, Anantnag, Troll, Pulwama, Sopore, Baramalla and Bandipora.
