The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that a large -scale fire broke out in a factory in Bawana Industrial Area in Delhi early Saturday, causing a powerful explosion to collapse the building.
DFS chief Atul Garg said, “Seventeen fire tenders were taken to the spot in Sector 2, when plastic bottles were obtained at 4.48 am after the fire in a factory construction,” said DFS chief ATul Garg.
Thick black smoke was seen billing from a thick-floor building, which collapsed after an explosion, as the flames rapidly surrounded the entire structure.
Officials said that there were no injuries or casualties so far.
The explosion, which occurred shortly after the fire, shocked the residents in nearby areas, triggered nervousness as many locals exited their homes, fearing further explosions, he said.
He said that rescue and control operations faced difficulty due to the debris scattered around the debris, he said.
The police have initiated an investigation to find out what the fire and later explosion occurred.
The structural integrity of the building and the adherence to the safety protocol are being investigated.
Operations are going on to completely extinguish the flames and clean the debris.
