Ambedkar jayanti 2025: Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar is widely considered the father of the Indian Constitution. Every year, on 14 April, his birth anniversary is celebrated as Ambedkar Jayati across the country. Born in MHOW in Madhya Pradesh in 1891, Dr. Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, social reformer and a prominent architect of the Indian Constitution. He was the chairman of the draft committee that created the Constitution of India.

Who was Br Ambedkar?

BR Ambedkar Ramji Maloji was the 14th and last child of Sakpal. Being a Dalit from a poor family, Babasaheb saw atrocities and discrimination and was under his community. During his life, Bhimrao Ambedkar fought for the rights of Dalits. He played an important role in the signature of Poona Pact in 1932, allowing Dalits to represent assemblies.

Ambedkar Jayati is seen as a public holiday in many Indian states and is marked by processions, seminars and cultural programs.
