Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro model can offer better heat management than the current iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, thanks to a new vapor chamber (VC) cooling system. Information leaked by a tipster suggests that Apple may make some hardware changes in the iPhone 17 Pro in time for the arrival of its upcoming A19 Pro chip. These can improve the overall thermal efficiency of the smartphone, which is expected to offer a better performance on the current flagship model.
The iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max may contain mild chassis material
Citing a “internal” source, a tipster has been identified as Magin Buy that Apple iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will equip a new vapor chamber with a new vapor chamber cooling system. So far, Apple has rely on graphite sheet for heat discipline, and the iPhone 17 Pro models may join several Android smartphones that have already integrated this technique.

Vapor chambers usually have a liquid that evaporates when a part of the device is hot, then condensed in another area and is again taken back to cool the warm section. The use of VC cooling system on Android smartphone shows us that it can reduce the temperature of the system and prevent overheating and thermal throttleing.
According to leikar, Apple is switching to the more advanced cooling system for the iPhone 17 Pro model due to the upcoming A19 Pro chip, which is said to “generate sufficient heat” during heavy AI or graphics intensive charge. Tipster also claims that Apple may use the metal frame of the iPhone 17 Pro for passive heat dissipation.
Previous reports indicate that Apple iPhone 17 can use aluminum for parts of the 17 Pro chassis. The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro models have a titanium frame, but the use of aluminum may allow apple to reduce the weight of the handset by improving thermal efficiency.
Unlike the iPhone 17 Pro model, standard iPhone 17 and new iPhone 17 air models may have the company’s current smartphone similar heat wastage features. Meanwhile, Pro models can offer better performance when using the phone for extended periods, improving the low example of thermal throttle and energy efficiency.
