The anti-Uttar Pradesh anti-terrorism squad (ATS0) received intelligence that Tafael, son of Maksud Alam, resident of Varanasi, was associated with a WhatsApp group formed by Uttar Pradesh, Pakistan-supported countries, which aims to harm India’s sovereignty, unity, and honesty.
Tufail is a resident of the district, Jetpur, Dosipura, Jetpur in Varanasi.
It was also reported that the person was sharing information related to important internal security with Pakistani phone numbers.
According to the release, on developing this intelligence, the ATS field unit in Varanasi confirmed that the accused was in touch with several persons in Tafael, Pakistan. Tafael was sharing videos of Maulana Shad Rizvi, a leader of the terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Libic in Pakistan on WhatsApp groups. He was also sharing a message for “calling for” Gazwa-e-Hind “, avenge the Babri Masjid incident and implementing Sharia law in India.
Tafael shared images and information related to several major Indian places, including Rajghat, Namogat, Gyanvapi, Railway Station, Jama Masjid, Red Fort and Nizamuddin Auliya, which has a Pakistani number.
He also broadcast a link to these Pakistan groups among many others in Varanasi. Tafael was reportedly in touch with over 600 Pakistani numbers.
He was also in contact through Facebook, with a woman named Nafisa, a resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan, who is allegedly in the Pakistani Army.
On May 22, 2025, Tuffel was arrested from Adampur, Varanasi under FIR number 05/25, Section 148/152 of BNS (Indian Nyaya Sanhita) at ATS Police Station, Lucknow. The accused will be presented before the Hon’ble Court as per the legal process for further judicial action.
His mobile phone and SIM cards were also seized.
