Karwar:
The Indian Navy on Wednesday included the traditionally built -made ship as Inv Kundinya at a function held at a function held at Karwar naval base in Karnataka.
Officials said that this is an entertainment of the fifth-century vessel and is named after Kaundinya, a great Indian merrinner, who left for South-East Asia in the Indian Ocean.
The ship acts as a tangible symbol of maritime exploration, trade and cultural exchange as a long-standing traditions of India, and its induction and naming is the culmination of an “extraordinary project” that celebrates India’s rich ship-building heritage, he said.

A Navy spokesperson said, “The Indian Navy nominated the sewn ship as the Indian Navy sailing vessel (INSV) Kaundinya and placed it in a formal event held at the Karwar naval base. Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat presided over the event.”
The newly developed vessel contains several culturally important characteristics.
He said, “Their palants display the motifs of Gandaberunda and Sun, their bow has a sculpted Simha Yali, and a symbolic Harappan -style stone anchor has decorated their decks, each element develops the rich marine traditions of ancient India,” he said.
INSV Kaundinya will be based on Karwar. The Navy spokesperson said the ship would now adopt its next historic phase, which would include preparation for a trans-optional journey along the ancient trade route from Gujarat to Oman.
Unlike any modern vessel, the stitched ship class is equipped with sails and steering orres, which are “foreigners for modern -time ships”. According to the Navy, hull geometry, rigging and palas had to re -test and test the first principles.
