The robbers used toy gun to rob gold from jewelery store in Pune: Police

Branding a toy gun, three robbers attacked the owner of a jewelery store and decorated gold with millions from the installation in Pune City on Tuesday, police said.

The incident took place in the afternoon at an jewelery shop at Kalubai Chowk in Dhayari area.

He said that the owner of the shop, Vishnu Sakharam Dahiwal, and an employee was in the store when a man went in and asked to see the gold chains.

Even when the Dahiwal was showing jewelry to the man, two more unknown people entered the shop, the officer said.

He said, “Trikdi took out a pistol, which later turned out to be fake, hurt the abuses and issued threats before decamping about 22 tolls (260 grams) from the shop with gold jewelry.”

The robbers also attacked the shop owner, who tried to protest, and hit him with a pistol butt, which broke, the official said, saying that the three ran on a motorcycle.

He said that the butt of the broken pistol was found at the scene, and it turned out to be part of a toy gun.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam said, “We are confirming the CCTV footage and have intensified the manhint to find the robbers.”
