The father of the woman arrested for espionating by the Haryana Police has said that his daughter visited Pakistan to shoot a video for YouTube and demanded a return of the phone picked up by the police.
He said that the police have taken their bank documents, phones, laptops and passports. He said that his daughter used to visit Delhi and was in Hisar for the last four-five days.
“She used to go to other places to shoot videos for Pakistan and YouTube,” Haris Malhotra told Annie.
She said that after receiving necessary permission, she moved to Pakistan.
“If he has some friends, he can’t call them? I have no demand, but give us our phone. A case has been registered against us,” he said.
Haryana Police arrested Jyoti Rani from Hisar for allegedly spying for Pakistani agencies.
Jyoti Rani was allegedly questioned to pass information to the Pakistani side. She allegedly met a Pakistani officer in Delhi, Ahsan-ur-Rahim, visited Pakistan twice, and shared sensitive information.
He was arrested for allegedly sharing sensitive information and being in constant contact with a Pakistani citizen.
Hisar DSP Kamaljeet said that the police have taken the woman on five -day remand. It has been booked under the relevant sections of the Official Gupta Act and BNS.
The DSP said that the police found “some suspicious things” from his mobile and laptop.
“Based on yesterday, we arrested Haris Kumar’s daughter Jyoti under the official Gupta Act and BNS 152. We found some suspicious things after recovering her mobile and laptop. We have taken her on 5-day remand, and further investigation is on.
During the preliminary investigation, the woman told the police that she had gone to the High Commission of Pakistan in Delhi in 2023 and met a person named Ahsan-ur-Rahim, aka Danish to apply for a visa.
He also told the police that after exchanging the numbers, he started talking to Ahsan-ur-Raham and traveled to Pakistan twice. Officials said that the woman also said during the investigation that she met a person who is known from Ahsan-ur-Rahim, who arranged for her stay and travel and arranged meetings with Pakistani security and intelligence agencies.
